2009 marks the 24th year for the CJKL Christmas Wish program providing new clothing and toys to
needy children in our area. The Christmas Wish is funded by donations from local families, businesses
and organizations. Several community fundraisers are held each year in support of the Christmas Wish
program.

2009 Christmas Wish Elves:
Kenogami Spring Break Committee: Thank you for organizing another wonderful day of golf, fishing and fun.
This year’s event held in March raised over $25,000 for the Christmas Wish program. In the first 8 years of the
event, The Spring Break Committee has donated $125,000 to the Christmas Wish. Thank you to everyone who attended,
sponsored, donated and organized this wonderful day.

Veterans Affair Canada: the DVA staff in Kirkland Lake have been longtime partners with
CJKL FM in the Christmas Wish program. Veterans Affairs staff raise money throughout the year. Each
Christmas, the DVA staff shop, wrap and deliver for dozens of local children as part of the Christmas
Wish program.

Canadian Tire: in Kirkland Lake is donating proceeds from the sale of reusable Holiday Gift Bags to
the CJKL Christmas Wish. The bags are available for just $2. Special thanks to Paul Medeiros and the
staff at Canadian Tire in Kirkland Lake.
Kirkland Lake Dental Office: Thank you to Dr. Jim Brookfield and the Kirkland Lake Dental
Office staff for organizing a mouth guard clinic in August of 2009. Area kids were fitted for new
mouth guards and $1,127 was raised for the Christmas Wish program.
Grant Home Hardware: has partnered with the Christmas Wish this year assisting the program
in purchasing hundreds of toys that will be distributed to needy Children.
Mitten Tree: Once again this year, The Northern Credit Union in Kirkland Lake has a mitten tree in
their Kirkland Lake location. Donations of new children’s mittens, gloves, scarves and hats can be made
during business hours. Thank you to everyone who donated children’s mittens, gloves, scarves and hats.
Cecile Young & Heather Wallace:: continue their support of the Christmas Wish. Cecile donates handmade
blankets for the infants and Heather contributes hand-knitted slippers the young children in the
program.
Kinsmen Carolers: The KL Kinsmen Club continue their support of the Christmas Wish program by
organizing a night of caroling with Santa on a horse-drawn sleigh on December 17th visiting local
homes who have pledged money to this year’s Christmas Wish. The event raised over $2500 for the wish.
