The CJKL Carnival Queen Pageant runs each year in conjunction
with the Kirkland Lake Winter Carnival.
The pageant is open to young ladies who reside in the Kirkland
Lake area, extending west to Matachewan, North to Sesekinika,
East to Virginiatown and South to the South Wye.
Contestants must be between 16 and 20 years of age the year of
the pageant. Applications are accepted on a first come, first
served basis, to a maximum of 15 contestants. Sponsors are
solicited in September and the deadline for applications is the
end of November.
The contestants first meet at the beginning of December and attend
numerous activities and rehearsals leading up to the crowning which
takes place prior to the Kirkland Lake Winter Carnival.
The CJKL Carnival Queen goes on to the represent Kirkland Lake at the Miss
Northern Ontario Pageant, which is held in June. For more information on the
